Two Down – One to Go

Eye doctor – check.

Much to Mac’s disappointment, no glasses needed.

Helpers…Yeah, that’s what they are…

With Nicki back at work, there was no one to watch my boys for me this year while I got my classroom set up.  So, I loaded up the boys, bribed them with sweet teas and took them in for a couple of hours each day. Mac was a huge help, most of the time.

Patrick, not so much.  He continued working on his love affair with the iPad.

Mac even helped me assemble a bookshelf (at home, then taken in post assembly in case you were wondering) and hammered the nails by himself! I’m very upset I didn’t get a picture of him in action.  I was just too worried about the hammer missing its mark (which it never did!).  While I certainly got frustrated at times…really frustrated at times (I may have almost had a nervous break down at one point when Shannon called)…they didn’t do too bad and I feel quite satisfied with what I got accomplished in the room.  It’s mostly set up and I’m ready for the planning stage.   Thank you, my boys.  You did great for having to stay inside, in a classroom, for three days in a row.  I love you, both.

One Down – Two to Go

Doctor appointments that is.  We did physicals today, still have vision and dental to go. The boys were too darn cute not to snap photos of at the doctor’s office today.   I so hate having to corral both boys in those tiny waiting rooms AND with the prospect of shots, I asked Daddy to come with us.  I think it made it more fun for the boys.

After getting paperwork settled and hanging out in the waiting room for awhile, it was our turn to head back.

Mac went in expecting his kindergarten shots.  While he was a little apprehensive, he was rather calm about it and I knew, he didn’t really know what to expect.  Patrick went in bragging the whole time (and clarifying over and over) that he didn’t have to get shots. We reassured them both numerous times how it was going to go.  How wrong we were. Patrick was eligible for a pneumonia shot, so we went ahead with it.  So, one for Patrick, three for Mac.

Since I was snapping away with pictures, the doctor insisted I take this shot.  She said it was too cute to pass up.  She was right. 🙂

Part of Shannon’s job was to help me with the screaming and aftermath of the shots.  I just knew I was going to have Mac crying from shots and Patrick upset seeing Mac upset, so I needed help.  Also, after taking them when they were babies and seeing their poor faces upon feeling the shots, I figured, I’m done with that.  No more holding my babies down while they get stuck.  Shannon’s turn.  So he held their hands while I cowered on the couch in the room.  And…nothing.  No tears.  Just two sets of big eyes looking at Daddy, believing him that it wasn’t that bad and it was all over.  WHAT?!  You know if he hadn’t come, I’d have two howling boys on my hands.  Oh well.  I guess I’m happier that in the end, they weren’t crying and I had one complete happy family leaving the office. 🙂

Almost First Day

On Friday, Mac got to go in and take his supplies, meet his teacher and get his first assignment.  Since parents aren’t allowed in the classroom on the first day, I snuck the camera in and snapped a few pictures of him at his table and in the classroom.
