Once Upon a Sweet Corn Festibal

This year, we decided to switch things up a bit and eat dinner before going to the Sweet Corn Festival.  It’s just too hard to go to different vendors, shuffle the kids and plates and find seating.  So we arrived and went straight to the inflatables and Touch-a-Truck vehicles.  That part was great! The boys got to sit in the MTD bus (always a favorite, for some reason), fire truck, and even a helicopter!  Oh and this year, there was a tractor to sit in.  I think this was their favorite.  Last year, there was a tractor there, but they couldn’t sit in it.  A real bummer.

With their fire badges.

Then, we decided it was time for corn.  And finally, Mommy could get her photo of the boys as an ear of corn (the real reason I go every year.  I love that!!).  But we waited too long.  It was dark and so packed we were literally shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of people.  We made it to the corn, but didn’t see the corn ‘statue’ (can’t think of what else to call it!).  It was just too dark and too crowded.  Sigh.  BUT the corn was delicious and worth the wading through people.

So, despite the lack of a pic of the boys as an ear of corn (I’ll get over it someday, I’m sure), we had a great time with Grandpa Neukomm and the Sweet Corn Festibal.

My handsome dates for the evening.

Check out ALL the photos if you want! 🙂

Unbelievable

So, Grandpa has a pink Barbie car that the boys LOVE to drive.  They could care less what color it is, or that it used to say Barbie on it.  It has a gas pedal, forward and reverse. That is all that matters.  Until this year, only Mac could drive it.  Then, Patrick was finally big enough this summer, so they’ve been sharing.  The few times we’ve made it out this summer, they have done a great job of sharing and taking turns.  So, when Grandpa invited us out this past weekend to play, the boys were so excited to accept and drive the pink car.  We were told that Grandpa had a surprise, so they were even more excited to see what it was.  As soon as we got out of the car, the boys headed toward the shop, where they knew the bikes and cars awaited them.  Suddenly, Patrick exclaimed, “There are two pink cars!!!”  Sure enough, Grandpa had found another one!  Again, the boys could care less that it has no hood or windshield.

Love Patrick's lean on the turn. 🙂

Grandpa set up a race track.  The boys tried, but Patrick’s car was a tad faster and Mac got a little frustrated that he couldn’t win.  So it didn’t last long, but it was cute!

Thank you, Grandpa!

First Day!

We showed up excited and ready for the day!

Ready for his classroom!  This is how I left him, putting together a puzzle.  And I didn’t get a pic of Mac off with his friends.  He barely said goodbye he was so comfortable.  That did my heart good.  I just had to worry about Patrick. 🙂

And how cute is he with his backpack?! 🙂  No tears from the boys on day one (can’t be said about Mommy, but we’ll let that go…).  So proud of them!

Homework

After a great evening at Grandma and Grandpa Rapp’s house, we left according to plan in order to get us home in time for baths and a good bed time for school the next morning. As we were driving home, Mac asked to play outside when we got home.  Want to know my response?

“No, Mac.  We have to get home, take baths, then you have homework to finish before you to go bed.”

Ha! Finish homework! And here is the homework:

Getting Ready for Monday

What is Monday, you ask? SCHOOL!  Mac and I had a blast supply shopping.

And his cool bag he got at the shoe store.  I am so happy that my baby inherited my love of bags.  It’s just so fun to see his excitement over them.  I’m still smiling about it while typing, days later.  He had supply drop off day on Friday and we he got a homework assignment already!!  Can you feel my excitement coming through????
