Flowers

I wanted to document (and share!) my beautiful flowers this year.  I know, I’m getting old. I enjoy sitting and looking at my flowers, while watching the birds…Last year I scattered a bag of zinnia seeds and they grew to be over five feet tall! They overtook the front bed and grew out of control, but were so pretty. So this year, I decided to go with a bag of mixed wild flowers hoping they weren’t as tall, but they grew just as big!  Oh well. I enjoyed them just as much.

I got tired of battling weeds, so I caved and put in mulch.

These flowers draw the hummingbirds. I love to sit in my front room and watch them fighting each other for the flowers. 🙂

Here’s a shot of one of them hanging out at Cheri’s feeders. We were enjoying a gorgeous evening on her front porch.

My Island

Okay, our house has a pretty good sized kitchen. It’s not huge, but it’s a good size.  An average person would be just fine in it.  But with my balance what it is, it’s really large for me.  When I cook in it, I feel like I’m going to fall backwards. And it’s hard to carry things across to the other side. So I got this great idea to put in an island. Shannon wasn’t excited about it because, again, it’s not a huge kitchen. And trying to match cabinets and countertops would be really hard…

But he caved and said okay. And Luke offered to help me in the countertop department!

Then it was off to pick out the island. We found the perfect match to our cabinets at the discount warehouse in Arthur.

The boys waiting. They weren't allowed in the warehouse. I LOVED it.

Then it was off to pick out granite.  This was sooo much fun!!

See? It fits!

I absolutely love cooking in there now. I have stability and extra counter space! 🙂  Thanks, Shannon for understanding (and not even complaining one time with it in there!)

Guitar Lessons

Mac started guitar lessons a couple of weeks ago. He’s doing a great job. I decided to video his first couple weeks of practice so we can see how much he grows over the summer.  So here is just a snippet of one of his practice sessions.

He usually practices with Shannon and they go through the exercises together, but this particular evening, Shannon had to work late, so Mac decided to try the next page in his music book without him.
