Fireflies

One of my favorite memories of childhood is catching lightning bugs.  I don’t know how often or how long we actually did it, but it felt like we spent hours outside running around catching the glowing bugs and putting them into jars (with slitted lid for air, of course 😉 ).  So when my own kids wanted to do it, I was thrilled!  Turns out, it’s harder to teach someone to do it than I thought and not nearly as fun as I remember.  The mosquitoes were biting and it seems like a lot of sitting around waiting to find where they were hanging out for the minute.  Then by the time I got there, they had all cleared out.  I was either a lot faster as a kid, or it was just more fun running around more than actually catching them! 🙂  Either way, it was still fun to see the boys catch them.  Mac is pretty good and their nets helped.  We never had that luxury!

And yes, we let them go once we were finished with the torture. 🙂
