Thanksgiving

The day before we left for break some former students brought me notes they wrote during class for an assignment. It made my day! No, it made my month!

Fall Awards

Patrick had fall sports awards night. Yes Marching Band is a sport. Some rude little cross country runner was sitting next to me and when they announced the Marching Band next, he snidely said to his buddy, “How is band a sport?” and laughed. I wanted to turn to him and say, can you memorize four songs worth of music and a choreographed routine for each and perform it? I’d like to see it. Anyway, here is Patrick smiling so beautifully for me from the stage!

We The People

Patrick is on the We the People team. It’s kind of like a Constitution debate team, from what I can tell. He had his first practice run through at the courthouse. He asked us not to come so he wouldn’t be too nervous this first time. He gave a stance and defended it on several issues in front of actual judges and even the mayor of Champaign. He reported back that the first one went okay, but his second round the judges told them they had the hardest question of the day and they ‘did a phenomenal job answering it’. Here are a couple of pictures the parents that were allowed to attend took and shared with me.

Senior Night for Marching Band

Patrick’s last marching band performance was on senior night at the last home football game. It was so much fun to celebrate him and this great group of kids.
