Patrick is TWO!

Well, my baby is two.  He’ll tell you he’s three, but I want everyone to know that he is only two!! Let’s not rush things, Baby!  We had a great time at his party.  It was the party of big presents – large in size that is!  He got three mowers, so Mac is thrilled that he gets one, too!  Here are the pics of how blessed he is.  Shannon got some great shots of some of the friends and family that came to help him celebrate.  I made Nicki get shots of him opening his presents.

See my (and Nicki’s) pics here.
Shannon’s pics here.

You can also see just a few shots from the new month of March here.

My Favorite Word

I was reading a mother’s blog tonight from a link on Facebook and it got me thinking.  The post on her blog was all about how she didn’t want her kids to be happy…she wanted them to be content and holy.  It was a little too looong and spiritual-ly of a post for me, but it was still good.  And it reminded me of my favorite word.

Content.

Shannon is constantly on my case because I’m a pessimist.  I never see the good in a situation.  I usually look for the worst that could happen and figure that’s how it’ll go.  He says what a sad way to live, always thinking the worst and living ‘down’.  I see it differently.  When you look at life this way, you’re rarely truly disappointed in a situation because it turns out better than you anticipated.  So, usually, I’m pleasantly surprised and pleased with situations! 🙂  I know, that doesn’t make sense to you, but it makes perfect sense to me. (You can see his frustration with me!)  He often makes comments about me not being happy or satisfied.  I know it’s hard for him to understand (he’s the complete opposite, an extreme optimist).

But through all my pessimism and dreary outlook on things, I am truly content. I am so completely and utterly content with my life and no matter how I see situations we are in or react to things that happen in our life, I love our life.  I’ve often considered what I want my boys to get out of life (besides a love for God and desire to live His plan for their lives) and I always come to:  I want them content with what they choose in life.  I hope that as they make their decisions on career, family, life, they are content.  I firmly believe that being content is what helps us make it through the tough times.  It’s what helps us choose to stick with the people we love.  It’s what helps us work though things when our heads and hearts say give up.  If we are truly content, then we choose to fight for these things and stick it out until it gets easy and fun again.

I am content. 🙂

WordFewer Wednesday

Who Stole My iPhone?

**My friend Sue does a cute thing called Wordless Wednesday.  She posts a pic without an explanation.  It’s a cute idea, so I thought I would ‘steal’ her idea and try it, however, I talk way too much and can’t do wordless.  I’ll call mine ‘WordFewer Wednesday’. 🙂  Now I’m not as organized as her, so I’m sure I’ll miss some, but I’ll try!  Thanks for the idea, Sue!
