A Strange Conversation

We were driving by our old apartment in Urbana and
Mac says, “Man, I miss living over here.”

Me:  “You do? Why?”

Mac: “Because we lived right by where we go when we die!”

Me: “The cemetery?  Um, we can be buried anywhere.
I think we can find a cemetery near our house.”

Mac: “Really?  Well I like this one.”

If You Give A Mommy A Cupcake

If you haven’t read this book, you should.  It’s one of my favorites.

So imagine my excitement when Patrick brought home his own version of it as a
Mother’s Day present.

He co-authored this version with his playmates during the day.  I can tell the touches he put in that include Mommy needing a rest and TV watching time after playing with the kids.  How my three year old knows his mama!

Per request…the rest of the story:

If you give a mommy a cupcake, she will want frosting to go with it.
If you give her frosting, she will want to make some for her friends.
Then she will want a drink.
If you give her a drink, she will need a napkin.
Then she will want to play with you.
After she plays with you, she will want to sit in a chair and watch T.V.
Then she will get tired.
She will want to go to bed.
When she wakes up, she will be thirsty.
She will want a drink.
If you give her a drink, she will want a cupcake to go with it.

A Dose of What I Need…Whatever That Is

The weekend started out crummy for me and just continued that way.  The kids weren’t bad.  Shannon and I were getting along just fine.  The weather was even nice and we got a lot accomplished around the yard.  But throughout it all, a bad mood just hung around.  I couldn’t shake it.  One thing I have learned about myself through depression and moodiness…when I feel like crawling in a hole or being grumpy, the best thing for me is to get around people – even when I really don’t want to.  I’m an introvert and sometimes that doesn’t sound good to me even on good days!  However,  the alone-ness swallows me up and hangs on.  So, I loaded us all up in the car and headed to Grandma and Grandpa Rapp’s.  They were doing some yard work (think really big yard work!) and Grandpa had invited us to stop by if we had the time.

First, Grandpa showed us how high it could go.  Then he asked the boys if they wanted a ride.  Of course, they were hesitant, so Mommy offered to go up with them!

Then they got up the courage to go on their own.

They loved going over the car when Grandpa took them all the way around.

Those are my babies 40 feet in the air!!

Yep, that did the trick for me.  We had a blast. 🙂

The Speech

Mac is a crack up when he is explaining things.  It’s hard to explain or describe.  He has a certain tone in his voice and hand gestures when he is very serious and explaining something.  I’ve been trying to get it on video for awhile, and this was a great example of it, so I quickly grabbed the camera.  I went to edit it, but he was just so darn funny to listen to that I left it all in there, even his brother being loud.  So I apologize for some of the parts. 🙂

Here is Mac explaining how his bike does something with a yellow, red and blue light or something like that…
