Lesson Learned

We learned an important lesson this week.  Never bet a five year old $20.

Let me back up.  We had a wonderful bonfire last weekend.  The morning after, Patrick came running in the room and said that the fire was still burning.  Shannon told him, no, it’s not. It’s been all night, it’s stopped burning by now.  But Patrick was adamant that it was still red and hot.  “I bet you $20 it’s still burning, Daddy!”  It’s a sure bet.  “Okay, Patrick.  I bet you $20 it’s not still burning.”

Sure enough, Grandpa had stirred it or something and there were still red embers there.
