Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Shannon has been wanting to go this new Japanese/Asian restaurant for awhile now.  I’ve been dragging my feet even though Mac was even begging to go try it.  1.) I just don’t enjoy trying new things. I don’t step out of my comfort zone very often.  2.) I don’t care for Asian food.  3.) I feared (knew) they wouldn’t have anything for the kids to eat (due to me not being willing to try new things often, my kids aren’t exposed to new things often!) and 4.)  I just didn’t want to go!  So when it closed down, I was somewhat relieved.  Then a month later, a new one opened in its place!  So, as is tradition in the family, the birthday person gets to choose where we go out to dinner.  Shannon chose to go last week on his birthday.  I figured, better get it over with! 🙂  I was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere.  It also wasn’t packed at all (I’m never sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing in a restaurant…).  As I suspected, there was no kids’ menu and I had no idea how to order anything.  But we muddled through and ordered our main meal, that came with soup and salad, and appetizers including sushi.  The boys were great and tried it all!  I couldn’t believe it.  They each found something they really loved and had a great time.

Then we headed home for cake and ice cream.  Every year, Mac makes Daddy have a cake, we sing to him and then they get to enjoy it.

You can see all the pics from the evening here. 🙂
